Kingdom of Verdite
A dark-skinned human woman, accustomed to desert life.
Mel was only 5 when Cyril found her hiding in the burnt husk of a border town, surrounded by bodies. He figured that one of the nations of evil (any nation other than Heladin) had attacked the poor town for no good reason. Cyril decided that it was his solemn duty to raise the child to sing of the glory of his wonderful nation. (Cyril had a few delusions about his country) The very day he met her, he tried to teach her one of the nations folk songs, all about blood in the sand. Her throat was burnt from smoke inhalation and she sounded a little like a dying frog, and since Mel didn’t know her last name, Cyril gave her the name of Frog. Mel was raised on Cyril’s delusions, and longed to teach the entire world of her nation’s true face. Unlike her foster father, she didn’t believe that all the citizens of the nation were exactly just. She learned that words dipped in honey could make a person do nearly anything, and she used this to her advantage. When Mel was 15, Cyril was killed by bandits. She swore that she would find revenge. She decided that she would use her power of persuasion and her songs to lead a small band to an attack. She was surprisingly successful and thought that if she could lead a band of fighters to attack a band of bandits, what could stop her from leading a nation in an orderly attack on the evil nations. With the taste of power on her tongue, Mel went out to find people to support her in her cause. She would stop at nothing.
